Headline: Senate Bill a start, not a total solution to Porter Ranch Gas Blowout
From Matt Pakucko, President of Save Porter Ranch
"This legislation is a good step but not a total solution as we need a permanent shut down of the Aliso Canyon Storage Facility. In addition, the State must inspect and evaluate the safety of all oil and gas wells within and surrounding the facility, not just the pre-1954 wells. As long as this facility remains open my community will not feel safe in their homes."
From: Alexandra Nagy, Senior Organizer with Food & Water Watch
“We urge Senator Pavley to strengthen SB 380 to include a moratorium on all oil and gas operations in the SoCalGas Aliso Canyon Storage Facility. The facility overall is in a very dangerous condition and its problems are not confined to certain wells. As this gas disaster has displaced over 12,000 Porter Ranch residents from their homes since October 23, the facility must be permanently shut down to protect the health and safety of Porter Ranch and Los Angeles."
