A big shout-out to Save Porter Ranch in the Daily News for being the driving force in getting this Emergency Declaration:
"The action represents a victory for Save Porter Ranch, the community activist group that has held a series of protests and community meetings and has filed a class-action suit.
“It’s everything we asked for at the beginning. We got Sempra to pay for everything. They are not off the hook,” said resident Matt Pakucko, president and founder of the group. “I was worried that the public health order would be lifted and Sempra would not be paying. And boom, we got it. We pushed and pushed and pushed, and if it wasn’t for us, this would not have happened.”
But the governor’s order is not about vindication, Pakucko said.
“It’s the right thing to do,” he said."
Thanks Greg Wilcox,
the reporter who has been following this story from the beginning (one of the few) and thus recognizes that SPR has been vital in making anything happen regarding exposing the blowout (virtually single–handedly) and getting help to the community.
